Good morning, Los Angeles.

This has been a challenging time and most of us are only beginning to process the enormity of these fires and their impacts on our city. Like all of you, I’m sure, my plans for January 2025 look different than my intentions as this year started.

For one, I had intended on using this month to introduce the project that I'm most inspired to scale. An initiative called Smarter with Science, which is committed to communicate, incubate, and build the future using the power of the scientific method. Launching Smarter with Science remains my personal commitment, and it looks different from how I expected. This month, instead of publishing weekly science communication videos, we've pivoted our focus to helping the city how we can:

Introducing: Clean Air for LA Classrooms, Protecting Our Students from Wildfire Smoke.

• My request is that you share, donate, and volunteer so that the young students most vulnerable to smoke & pollutants have a chance to learn in a healthy environment

Also, we have converted tomorrow's Startup Cafe into a Support Café: Emotional Resilience Through Difficult Times. Please join us in Venice if you can.
